Edible gardening that fits REAL life
May 14, 2025I started Garden Footprint to help make gardens productive, not just ornamental.
Let’s be honest: so few of us have the time needed to grow crops in the traditional way. Modern life is emails, errands, school runs, endless WhatsApp waffle. The idea of sowing trays of seeds and spending Sundays weeding? Lovely in theory but hard to prioritise.
But here’s the good news: you don’t need to start from seed or battle weeds every week to grow your own food. Some of the most delicious and useful plants don’t need sowing at all.
They just… live. Year after year. No seed trays. No watering. No drama.
Imagine:
-
Fruit trees and bushes that thrive while you ignore them (like honeyberry and gages)
-
Herbs that return every spring like clockwork (Like fennel and chives)
- Spices that thrive all winter (like pepperbush and bay)
-
Edible groundcover that suppresses weeds and feeds you (like thyme)
This isn’t wishful thinking. It’s what perennial, low-effort gardening looks like. It’s modern, it’s smart, and it frees you up for the parts of gardening you actually enjoy. So if you've ever felt guilty about seed packets expiring in your drawer—you're not alone. And you’re not doing it wrong, but there is an easier way. My course on edimentals will help to bring a new and refreshing approach to productive gardening. Watch this space!
Garden Footprint's aim is to make gardens low-maintenance, beautiful and edible. Check out our courses to start your journey!
