Absolutely not. This course is designed for complete beginners. Mike has 10 years of teaching experience and will guide you step by step. The online tools we use are free and user-friendly.

• Google Slides to create plans and layers
• All programs are online and accessed through Google Drive
• You WILL need to sign up for a free Google account if you don't have one already

• Course length 90 mins
• Your own design work 90 mins plus (you may choose to revisit and refine it for months!)

The actual course content is around 90 minutes long, but you'll be working on your own garden plan in between lessons. Depending on the scale and complexity of your garden, this will add another couple of hours. If you want to present it beautifully this will take more time.

Gardens need time to mature before they look their best. That's why it's so important to get moving! This course will save you from making poor decisions (like planting structural plants in the wrong place) so you won't have to backtrack and do things twice. It will also save you from procrastination - once a project looks good on paper and stands up to scrutiny, you can move forward with confidence!

By having a clear and accurate plan, you can avoid unnecessary purchases and costly mistakes. You'll know exactly what you need, where to place it, and how much to buy. You will measure distances and areas with precision to avoid over or under-ordering.

No, it's not a design course. You will learn how to accurately DRAW a garden base map or plan, rather than design the contents of a garden. This said, there are of course many design tips and inspiration along the way.

That's perfectly fine. Our course will help you create a plan for any size or area of garden, whether it's a full redesign or just a new planting area.
